If you have fine guage wire, you can slip it between one of the hand or foot stitch seams without cutting the threads. You won't be able to bend the ends of the wire over but it still works if you don't want to sew up the cut seams.

Here's an easy way to add wire to your Family Elf to make it easier to pose. All you need is a needle, thread, wire, seam ripper or knife and pliers. Open a few stitches on the hands and feet, bend the wire end over a tad, slide wire through, fold the wire over on the other end and stitch the seam back up.
